Throughout
the history, the nature was the principal source of remedies. The experience
and knowledge were passed from generation to generation, and certain herbs were
known to help for certain disorders. It was only recently that this ancient
knowledge was scientifically examined and verified. Today we know as a fact,
for example, that yarrow indeed is a fantastic wound healer due to its
antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-thrombotic and astringent properties.
And we know that not just because the ancient tradition says so, but because
scientific research has shown that yarrow contains alkaloids, coumarin,
flavonoids, saponins…
Phytopharmacy
is an important part of medicine today, and is gaining more popularity with the
growing need for a more natural lifestyle. Today, our environment is flooded
with chemicals that act as hormone disruptors, causing an array of disorders,
from obesity to cancer. One in ten women are affected by the PCOS and
endometriosis, one out of every six couples is affected by infertility. These
frightening statistics are a clear message that our lifestyle needs to change,
and our approach to problems needs to be done from a different perspective.
